Writing, Editing & Waiting for Autumn

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted a proper writing update, so I thought it was about time I checked in and shared what’s been happening behind the scenes! There has been editing, plotting, country music, several bloody heatwaves and a LOT of wishing autumn would hurry up and arrive.
Book Three Has Survived Its First Round of Edits!
The biggest update is that I’ve officially finished the first round of edits on book three! For anyone new here, book three is the second and final book in my How The West Was duet, continuing Harper and Wyatt’s story after How The West Was Faked.
Finishing that first edit feels like a pretty big milestone, although we are definitely not at the finish line yet. There’s still plenty I want to go back through, change, tidy up, rewrite, and generally obsess over before I’m happy to send this book out into the world.
As for a release date? I still don’t have one. I’m hopeful it’ll be before the end of 2026, but I don’t want to give myself a strict deadline and then end up rushing things just to meet it. How The West Was Faked came out in December, so if book three ends up being another December release, so be it!
I’d like it to be earlier than that, though. So we’ll see how productive I can be over the next few months...
Can We Talk About This Weather?!
The UK has seemingly spent the last few months moving from one heatwave to another, and I am done. Trying to edit a book when it’s ridiculously hot and your brain has approximately three functioning cells is not ideal.
But today? RAIN. GLORIOUS RAIN.
It’s finally cooler, and I’m hoping that means I can properly knuckle down, get comfortable at my desk, and make some serious progress on the next stages of editing.
And yes, I’m already looking forward to autumn. It’s my favourite time of year, and I am more than ready for cooler days, cosy evenings and absolutely no need to position myself directly in front of a fan.
A Little Life Outside of Writing
I have actually left the house occasionally too!
One of the highlights of the last few months was heading up to Wembley in London with my mum to see Luke Combs, and it was absolutely amazing. Obviously, spending an evening listening to country music meant my author brain was working overtime. There were definitely thoughts about cowboy romances I’ve read, and naturally, Harper and Wyatt popped into my head more than once. 😂
I’ve also had some lovely days out with friends and family, which has been a nice break between work, writing and editing.
So that’s where I’m at right now. Book three has completed its first round of edits, my mysterious future four-book series is slowly taking shape, and I’m impatiently waiting for autumn to properly arrive.
Hopefully the next update will involve me being significantly closer to saying BOOK THREE IS FINISHED!
Until then, back to the edits...
